Finger Fruits & Yogurt

Nothing could be more tantalizing to young children than dipping fresh fruit into creamy, tangy yogurt. Ring the changes with fresh strawberries, or raspberries, or sweet juicy pineapple when you have time to prepare it.

1 – 2 apples or pears
1 orange
1 mango
1/2 small pineapple (optional)
1 – 2 bananas
475 ml natural, creamy yogurt
A little muscavado sugar, to taste (optional)

  1. Quarter and core the apples/pears, peel if desired and cut into long slices.
  2. Peel the oranges and divide into segments.
  3. Peel the mango and cut the flesh away from the stone, then slice.
  4. Peel the pineapple and slice into rings or sticks, cutting out the central core.
  5. Peel and half the bananas.
  6. Arrange the ‘finger fruits’ on individual plates with a small bowl of yogurt. Serve the sugar seperately.

Children and adults with lactose intolerance (tummy ache, wind, or diarrhoea from milk sugar) can often digest yogurt.

4 – 6 months babies omit yogurt. Blend the fruits with a little milk.
6 – 12 months babies make sure you buy unsweetened yogurt and omit the sugar. Blend/mash the ingredients together until your child is able to chew.
