  • Create personalized environments.
  • Consider how each student can connect personally with the content through your understanding of him or her.

Build on Youth Interests.

  • Incorporate your students’ ideas into lesson planning and classroom procedures.
  • Use youth as resources within lessons and in classroom procedures.

Apply a component from the assets to your classroom programmes, units, lessons, and materials.

  • Analyze existing lessons and units as well as programmes (commercial or local) for ways to emphasize building assets.
  • Find ways to highlight the asset elements in the curriculum materials you are already using.
  • Choose materials with assets in mind.
  • Choose materials that are well-researched in their own domains.

Apply a component from the assets to the Instructional Strategies that meet diverse learning needs.

  • Attend to diverse needs through your choices of practices and materials.
  • Honour the strengths and validate the identity of learners through your choices of instructional practices (for example; co-operative learning, and differentiation).
  • Choose instructional strategies that are well-researched in their own domains.
  • Emphasize asset-rich elements of those well-researched instructional strategies.
